Clinical Experience

An absolutely essential part of your application will be Clinical Experience.  Admissions Committees consider it vital that you have been exposed to healthcare, and know what you’re getting yourself into.  A lot of time and money is invested in medical students, and these schools want to make sure you know this is the right choice for you.

Shadowing, volunteering in hospitals, working in a clinical setting, all of these things count as clinical experience, and Texas Tech, TTUHSC, and the Lubbock Community offer extensive opportunities for exposure to medicine.

As part of the Pre-Medical Society at Texas Tech, you will have the opportunity (hopefully Fall 2013) to participate in an organization-led shadowing partnership with the Texas Tech Health Sciences Center.  This will be an incredibly useful tool for arranging clinical experience for our members.

This is an unaffiliated article that may provide you with insight into why shadowing is important.
